Polling places changed for three local precincts

Voters in three Wayne County precincts will cast their ballots at new locations when they go the polls for next month's general election.
Safety led to the changes at Precinct 22 in Goldsboro and Precinct 15 at Seven Springs, while in Mount Olive's case, the traditional site will be unavailable on Nov. 4.
The Precinct 22 polling place has been moved from Greenwood Middle School to Faith Alliance Church, 3203 Cashwell Road.
The Precinct 15 polling place has been moved from Spring Creek High School to Seven Springs Baptist Church on N.C. 55 east of Seven Springs.
Both of the moves are permanent, said Vickie Reed, Wayne County Board of Elections director.
"We were thinking of safety," Ms. Reed said. "Schools are not closed on Election Day and we did not want to put anyone in jeopardy."
Ms. Reed said the county was concerned about an anticipated heavy amount of traffic that would be on school property because of the high level of interest in the election.
The Mount Olive move to the town's fire station at 401 Northwest Center St. is temporary, she said.
Voters in Precinct 25 normally vote at the Mount Olive Civic Center. However, the town is in the midst of making renovations to the old building that once served as the town's train depot.
Since the renovations will not be complete prior to the election, the county had to find another location, she said.
All voters residing in the three precincts should have received a new voter registration card in the mail.
