Two sought for rash of vehicle break-ins

A rash of car vehicle break-ins "most likely" was perpetrated by two Goldsboro area men whom police now seek, authorities say.
But although Linwood Jerome Amerson, 39, and Cordaryl Jamar Godette, 21, are the most likely suspects in 10 vehicle break-ins, police possess only the evidence needed to charge them each with just a few counts .
Amerson is now classified as a suspect guilty of habitual felony offenses, according to police Sgt. Chad Calloway, who announced the warrants for Amerson's and Godette's arrest on Monday afternoon.
"There's no way we could legally connect them to all of the break-ins," Calloway said. "But it's likely that they were involved in many of them, if not all of them."
Amerson is charged with felony-level breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felonious larceny and habitual felony offenses, Calloway said.
Godette is charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of felonious larceny and two counts
of possessing stolen goods, the sergeant said.
The rash of 10 break-ins, for whomever is responsible, earned little for the perpetrators, according to police reports.
In break-ins on Park Avenue, Green Drive, Courtney Road and Cedar Road, nothing was taken from the mostly unlocked vehicles.
In other thefts, two on Courtney Road, three on Bayfield Drive and one on South Drive, just a few dollars in currency, a pack of snacks, a bank card and a Global Positioning Satellite unit worth around $750, according to police reports.
As of Monday evening, Godette and Amerson were still being sought.
