Adamsville Baptist Church will again serve as an area collection point for Operation Christmas Child, the Samaritan's Purse project that ships shoeboxes full of goodies to needy children around the world.

Since its inception in 1993, more than 61 million boys in 120 countries have received the gifts.

Organizers say a standard-sized shoebox, or similar sized plastic container, should contain items for either a boy or girl of a specific age. Suggested items include school supplies, toys, personal hygiene items or hard candy. Items that should not be included are damaged goods, liquids, lotions, medications or breakable items.

A donation of $7 is also sought to cover shipping charges.

Drop-offs can be made starting Nov. 17. A complete schedule of dates and times for dropping off boxes will be published in later editions of the News-Argus.
