Closings are announced for Labor Day holiday

County and municipal government offices in Wayne and Duplin counties will be closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday.
Schools in the two counties, post offices and banks will be closed as well.
Wayne County commissioners will meet as scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 2. A briefing session will start at 8 a.m. followed by the meeting at 9 a.m.
The Wayne County Board of Education has rescheduled its regular first-of-the-month meeting to Monday, Sept. 8. School board meetings start at 4 p.m. with a closed session, followed by the open session about 5 p.m.
Goldsboro City Hall offices will be closed and the City Council meeting that normally would be held that night will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
All city sanitation services scheduled for Monday will be serviced on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
The Mount Olive Town Board meeting has been postponed until Monday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. All services will be delayed by one day. Recyclables will be picked up as usual on Thursday.
The Pikeville Town Board has rescheduled its meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. No town services will be affected by the closing.
In Fremont, the holiday closing will delay garbage pickup by one day, from Monday to Tuesday.
Duplin County commissioners have rescheduled their Monday meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 9 a.m. However, the meeting will be canceled if the school board's lawsuit against the county is still under way in Duplin County Superior Court.
The holiday will not affect the Duplin County Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
