City police allege a Goldsboro 18-year-old is responsible for a convenience store shooting that seriously injured Ribhi Mohammed Kandeel earlier this month.

Rashard Vondarius Oliver, 18, of Franklin Street, was arrested Monday morning at his home, Goldsboro police Investigator Dwayne Dean said.

Oliver's charges include attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and a minor possession of marijuana charge, according to his arrest report.

Kandeel is still recovering from the gunshot wound at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Kandeel is the owner-operator of Brookside Convenient Mart on South Slocumb Street.

The store has been closed with no one to answer the phone since the Aug. 18 shooting, which occured just before midnight.

A magistrate set a $1 million bond for Oliver after seeing the evidence compiled by Dean, according to the investigator and a police spokesman.

Oliver's arrest might not be the last -- police said investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
