Man shot

Jakkar Katril Pettaway, 17, of East Elm Street, reported that he was at a residence in the 300 block of South William Street when he was shot with a handgun by a man he did not know, police said. Reporting person Depek Dupay could not provide a description of the shooter, police said. A Pitt Memorial Hospital spokesman said Pettaway was in critical condition.

Residence shot

Ellen Worrells, Isha Lassiter and Luciana Jackson reported their residences were damaged by gunfire late Wednesday, police said. Mrs. Worrells said she and her daughter hid in a pantry after they heard gunfire in their front room. Mrs. Worrells found damage to a bedroom window. Mrs. Lassiter and Mrs. Jackson returned to find windows and bedroom walls damaged by gunfire, police said.

Drug raid

Three people were arrested after a drug raid yielded crack cocaine and marijuana, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. Three people and a juvenile were charged after an investigation into 1537 Lancaster Road just outside of Pikeville. Abraham Aaron Forte, 27, Jackie Rae Hill, 36, and Devonte Lamarice Petteway, 26, were all jailed under secured bonds. Petteway's was the highest, at $25,000, followed by Forte with a $6,000 bond and Ms. Hill, whose bond was set at $3,000, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Baseball bat car beating

Jennifer Artis of Hereford Drive, Dudley and Bryan Moore Jr. of Shadywood Drive reported that 11 windows on their vehicles were smashed with baseball bats by an acquaintance, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. The vehicles were parked at Ms. Artis' residence, authorities said.

Motorcyle in woods

A deputy reported finding a motorcycle in open land areas near the intersection of Sevens Mill and Ferry Bridge roads in the Grantham area, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
