A recent graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School was killed early Sunday morning when the car he was driving ran off the left side of South Hillcrest Drive in Goldsboro and struck a tree.

Thomas Ethan "Bo" Goff, 18, of 105 Farmingdale Drive, Pikeville, died at the scene.

Goff was driving south on Hilllcrest Drive between Spence Avenue and Elm Street at about 4:30 a.m. when for an unknown reason the 1999 Pontiac Sunfire he was operating went off the left side of the street and stuck a tree in a yard in the 200 block, according to a news release issued by the Goldsboro Police Department.

According to the release, it is unknown at this time whether alcohol played a role in the accident.

Traffic Officer Brandon Harper is continuing to investigate the accident, according to police.

A passenger in the car, 19-year-old Michael Edward Jones of Vinwood Avenue, was treated and admitted at Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was listed this morning in stable condition by hospital officials.

The car was listed as being owned by Kenneth Wayne Jefferson Jr. of Dudley.

Goff was the son of Thomas Kevin "Bunky" and Shirley Goff. He was employed by Andy's restaurant on Spence Avenue.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Jim Whitfield and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating.
