The first meeting this month for the Goldsboro City Council has been moved to Aug. 11.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Aug. 4, as the council normally gathers the first Monday of the month.
The agenda for the meeting is not yet assembled since items are not required to be turned in to the city clerk until Wednesday, but the council will decide on at least two items at the meeting -- a rezoning request and a conditional use permit.
Public hearings were held for the two items during the council's July 21 meeting.
Juanita Mansour requested to change property located on the north side of East Ash Street between Ridgewood Drive and Spence Avenue from shopping center to general business.
The site is currently a shopping center, but there is no specified use for the property. The general business zone would allow for more commercial uses.
At the council's public hearing, one person spoke in favor of the zoning change.
Lorenza Peacock requested a conditional use permit to allow the operation of used car lot on the west side of South George Street between Pine Street and Spruce Street.
The site operated as a used car lot before, but since the operation of the business has ceased for more than six months, it must meet certain requirements. The car lot is proposed to operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
At the public hearing, no one spoke either for or against the permit.
The council will hold a work session at 5 p.m. on Aug. 11 in the large conference room in the City Hall Addition. The regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the original Council Chambers in the historic City Hall.
