More charges in vehicle break-ins
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said John Harley Smith, 20, Plantation Road, is responsible for more break-ins to vehicles in the Rosewood community. Additional charges include eight counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, three counts of felonious larceny, three counts of possession of stolen goods, four counts of misdemeanor larceny and four counts of possession of stolen goods, Detective Rick Farfour said. Property valued at $5,058 has been recovered and returned to owners, the Sheriff's Office said.
Thefts reported
*Alejandro Hernandez of Timothy Street, Dudley, reported that people he did not know threatened him with a handgun and demanded his wallet, then shot at him when he did not comply, according to a report.
*Antony Grady of Tony's Service Center on North Breazeale Avenue, Mount Olive reported someone cut a fence, broke plexi glass and stole 30 truck tires worth about $9,000, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
*Jimmy Vail of Vail Road, Pikeville, reported someone entered his residence on sometime between Monday night and early Tuesday morning, the Sheriff's Office said. Around $600 in valuables were taken, according to the report.
Correction
An item in Tuesday's News-Argus incorrectly said Perry Levon Carlton, 57, of Henderson Street in Mount Olive, had been charged with larceny. Goldsboro police said another suspect used Carlton's identity.
