Robbed, terrorized
Goldsboro police are investigating a first degree burglary and armed robbery on North William Street.
The victim, William E. Woxblom, said he was awakened from sleep around 3 a.m. Thursday by a knocking at the door. He said he opened the door with the chain still on, and a black man forced his way into the room. Woxblom said the man pointed a semi-automatic handgun at his head and made him sit down. The intruder rummaged through Woxblom's things, then took an unknown amount of change from a bottle, $125 cash from Woxblom's wallet and a box of Pop-Tarts.
Woxblom said the robber told him "I'll let you live today" and left.
A witness reported seeing the robber heading south on William Street. He was described as black, about 20 to 25 years old, five feet nine inches tall and weighting about 160 pounds. The man was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
The bottle was taken as evidence.
Vandalized vehicles
*Richard Wayne Tooley told Wayne County Sheriff's investigators somebody did $1,700 worth of damage to the paint on his 1998 Sierra GMC truck while it was parked at his home on Old N.C. 111 South. Tooley said the perpetrator also did $800 worth of damage to his 1958 Chevrolet. The report said the damage could have been done with a screwdriver.
*April Lanette Franklin of Maple Street told police somebody did $2,500 worth of damage to her 1991 Chevrolet Prizm while it was parked at a residence on Central Heights Road. The report said it appeared bricks were used to break out all the windows. The tires were flattened, and the perpetrators keyed the body and broke off the headlights and tail lights. The vehicle was last secured on June 16. Ms. Franklin discovered it gone Wednesday.
Thefts
*Sheriff's deputies are investigating the larceny of $1,500 worth of copper wiring from a newly built house on Sanderling Way. The house, owned by Haven Properties of 103 River Haven Dr., was last secured on July 3.
*There was a break-in reported Tuesday at the residence of Mary Raye on Airport Road, Pikeville. Items reported taken included a dirt bike, a scooter and jewelry, all valued at $3,700. Damage to the padlock and a window air conditioner unit was $130. The house was last secured July 6.
*Ed Raidford reported break-ins at several empty apartments on Nahunta Road, Pikeville. Thieves took four refrigerators, four stoves and three washers and dryers, all valued at $6,700.
*Goldsboro police are investigating the larceny of 30 feet of copper tubing worth $300 from the heating oil system at Clark Auction, 512 N. John St. The report came in Wednesday morning. The system was last secured on July 2.
*Somebody removed an auto transport trailer from the lot at U Haul, 1604 N. William St. The trailer, valued at $2,000, was removed without any damage to the business.
*Habitat for Humanity reported the theft of electrical wires from under two houses that are being built on Stephens Street. The unknown footage of wiring was worth about $1,500. Damage to the houses came to $1,000.
Identity theft
*Daniel Guy Maddox of Bolingbrooke Drive reported identity theft Monday. Maddox told police he found out somebody had used his identity to open an account when he pulled his credit report and found the fraudulent account on his report.
Shots fired
*Police are investigating a firing into an occupied dwelling. The gunman did $50 worth of damage to the front window of Tekisha Williams' house on Maple Street. Nobody was injured, and the bullet stopped at the window and did not go into the house.
*Darius S. Atkins of Courtyard Circle told police Wednesday night that he accidentally shot himself in the foot. Atkins said he was playing around with the 9mm handgun. He had it in his left hand. It fell. He heard the sound and then felt the pain in his right foot.
