Quiet weekend, local officials report

Goldsboro police and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported a fairly peaceful holiday weekend.
"It was a relatively quiet weekend," Sheriff's Office Maj. George Raecher said. "I'm not aware of any big complaints or anything."
In concurrence was Highway Patrol First Sgt. Jerry Burton, who reported no fatalities.
"A few minor wrecks, and so that was about it," Burton said.
There were no programs in place for traffic checkpoints for the patrol this weekend, Burton said.
"We just had saturation patrols, we didn't have any scheduled checkpoints," the first sergeant said.
But there were a few notable incidents within the borders of Wayne County.
Perhaps the most notable was a short Saturday evening chase initiated by Denise Shirley Sistar, 56, of U.S. 70 West.
Boyfriend William Dunevant said that Ms. Sistar entered his South Taylor Street home around 7:45 p.m. Saturday, police said.
They began arguing, and Ms. Sistar allegedly began breaking things throughout the home, police said, and Dunevant told her to leave.
Ms. Sistar pulled away from the home in a gold Chrysler PT Cruiser, and police tried to pull her over "to get her side of the story," according to a police report.
The woman refused, however, and a chase that lasted as long as 10 minutes ensued, police said.
The chase ended when Ms. Sistar hit a patrol car, then stopped outside the police department, police said.
Any charges filed in the incident were not included in the incident report, and there was no arrest report available for Ms. Sistar on Monday. Other incidents include:
* At 12:30 a.m. on the holiday, William F. Sutton of Wayne Avenue was assaulted and reportedly knocked unconscious while walking in the 1000 block of Devereaux Street, a report shows. After Sutton was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report was taken around 6:15 a.m., the reports show.
* At 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, Roberta Ellis of Charles Street was in bed when she smelled smoke. When she looked outside, she found a city trash can burning, police said. The fire caused $1,000 in damages to siding on the multi-family public housing unit, police said.
