A bluegrass music festival to benefit wounded troops home from the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan will be held at Laurel Lakes Campground on N.C. 242 near Salemburg on Wednesday through Saturday.

The event will feature music, food, fishing and games. The entire festival is dedicated to U.S. service men and women.

A special presentation to branches of the military will held on the Fourth of July, complete with fireworks. Special recognition is planned for a fallen hero from Benson who was killed in Iraq last year.

Organizers are inviting the public to attend and help raise money for the cause.

Almost 12 hours of music is planned daily. Tickets can be purchased at the gate daily or for all four days. Bring your lawn chairs and fishing poles. All active military personnel are admitted free by showing their military identification. Music workshops are held each morning for anyone who would like to attend.
