The Goldsboro Jaycees are organizing Goldsboro's Fourth of July celebration to be held in downtown Goldsboro this year.

The event will be held on Friday, July 4 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be a parade beginning at 11:00am that will feature local dignitaries, fire trucks, Ubi the Clown and other patriotic patrons.

The Jaycees are looking for parade participants. There is no fee for walkers and the fee for most other entries is $15. Children are invited to decorate their bicycles in a patriotic theme, meet at the Pedestrian Plaza on the corner of Center and Chestnut Streets and ride for free.

Also planned is a Street Festival from 1 p.m. -- 3 p.m. on the 200 East block of Walnut Street and Ormond Street. There will be food and entertainment throughout the day.

Entertainment will be from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and will include Ubi the Clown, Karen Tiede and her dance hoops. Other entertainment including bands will continue to be added. Children can enjoy various bouncy rides and view fire trucks and police vehicles.

The Jaycees are still looking for vendors for this event including food and arts and craft vendors and patrons that wish to sell their items as a fundraiser. Vendor fees are $25.

Both the parade application and the vendor application can be picked up at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce at 308 N. William Street or Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation at 218 East Walnut St. or by email a request for application to goldsboro_jaycee@yahoo.com.

Completed Parade and Vendor applications should be mailed to the Goldsboro Jaycees at P.O. Box 463, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533. Those received after June 27 will incur a late fee.
