Miss Goldsboro in top ten in state pageant

Miss Goldsboro Lisa Mace finished in the top 10 at the Miss North Carolina Pageant Saturday night.
Miss Mace's talent was a rhythmic swing tap dance to the Duke Ellington Classic "It Don't Mean a Thing."
For the evening gown portion of the pageant, she wore a white satin and chiffon ruched Sherri Hill Couture gown, and for the swimsuit portion, hers was caribbean blue.
Miss Goldsboro Executive Directors Jay Sauls and Kate Daniels said that they are "extremely proud" of Miss Mace.
"Not only has she been a wonderful representative for our community, she placed top 10 in the state," they said. "She is the first representative from Goldsboro to do this since 1994."
Miss Mace's platform is "Take the Lead", which partners dance with education. She is currently working with the North Carolina Congress to increase funding for dance educaton in the public school system.
In the Miss Goldsboro pageant, Miss Mace also received both the Desiree Autry Interview Award and the Jill Suggs Howell Talent Award.
Amanda Watson of Garner was crowned Miss North Carolina. Jamee Hunt, Miss UNC-Pembroke; Katherine Southard, Miss Mt. Holly; Rasheeda Waddell, Miss Central Carolina; and Kaitlin Cook, Miss Statesville, rounded out the top five.
