Four men indicted in rooster fight ring

Four men caught with 54 fighting roosters and the tools of the cockfighting trade in Seven Springs are among indictments this month in Wayne County Superior Court.
Atansio Mujica, 59, of Old Mount Olive Highway, Fidel Gonzalez, 44, of Clinton, Javier Arreloa Herrera, 47, Zion Church Road, Seven Springs and German Lopez Silva, 31, of Albertson were all indicted on one Class I felony count of cockfighting, court records show.
County authorities said November's raid on a Seven Springs home yielded metal gaffs, spurs and gloves.
All are used in wagers on cockfighting, a brutal match that usually leaves at least one bird dead.
Also indicted was Fiante Semaj Amerson, 17, who was implicated in a January diversion fire at the Spence Avenue Wal-Mart that caused $300,000 in damages.
Amerson was also indicted in a separate bill for breaking and entering, larceny after breaking or entering, possession of stolen goods and resisting police, according to court records.
Others indicted in June included:
*Tyrone Riley Jr., 27, South Slaughter Street, armed robbery, six counts second-degree kidnapping.
*Perez Donavan McDuffie, 21, armed robbery, six counts second-degree kidnapping.
*Javoris Whitted, 18, Dupont Circle, armed robbery, six counts second-degree kidnapping.
*Donald Lamont McLean, 36, North James Street, larceny, two counts possess stolen goods, breaking and entering, larceny after break or enter.
*Antonio Montrell Kornegay, 30, North James Street, larceny, receiving stolen goods, possess stolen goods.
*Barron Lamonte Plesent, 36, Woodside Circle, financial card theft, financial card fraud.
*Shauna M. Cowdrey, 23, Norbert-Wilson Street, Mount Olive, financial card theft.
*Robert Devince Holloman, 23, two counts larceny, two counts possess stolen goods.
*Thomas Phillippi, 26, Saulsberry Drive, operate vehicle to elude arrest, speeding, no operator's license, careless and reckless vehicle operation, two counts red light violation, stop sign violation.
*Cleveland Lamont Amerson, 36, Walnut Street, financial identity fraud, resist, delay or obstruct police, habitual felony offenses.
*Tashlin Noel Hewett, 32, Homestead Drive, possess stolen goods, carrying a concealed weapon, possess firearm by convicted felon.
*Jimmie Lee Brinson, 45, Sleep Creek Road, Dudley, two counts breaking and entering, two counts possess stolen goods, two counts larceny after break or enter, habitual felony offenses.
*Corea Shelton Pearsall, 30, West New Hope Road, larceny, possess stolen goods, misdemeanor driving while license revoked, operate vehicle to elude arrest, two counts felonious assault on police officer, three counts resisting police, habitual felony offense.
*Clarence Daniel Davis, 30, Rockerfeller Court, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury communicating threats.
*Daktari Xavier Harris, 16, Dobbs Farm Road, Kinston, possess stolen motor vehicle, resist, delay or obstruct police.
*William Earl Warren, 18, Walnut Street, two counts break or enter a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny, two counts resisting police.
