A Pineview Avenue man was jailed for statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child -- felony-level charges involving an alleged victim under the age of 12, police said Wednesday.
Goldsboro Investigator Dale Foster reported that Bobby Nathan Owens, 45, who works in Clinton, was arrested by an Onslow County deputy.
The rape and indecent liberties charges, filed in Wayne County, landed Owens in jail under a $75,000 bond, according to an arrest report.
A news release issued by Goldsboro police investigators said the sexual assault occurred on or around Tuesday.
A first appearance for Owens in District Court was set for Wednesday, according to police.
Owens is not the only suspect to be arrested for statutory rape this week.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office also reported that Santos Lucas Velasquez, 42, of Rabbit Run Lane, was arrested on one count of statutory rape of a victim between the ages of 13 and 15, according to an arrest report.
His arrest came just hours before Owens' arrest late on Tuesday.
