Several families to host foreign exchange students are still being sought, according to an East Carolina professor who directs a program coordinating the visits.
Nearly a dozen students from France and Spain planning to visit the United States this summer have yet to find a home to take them in, said Dr. Frederic Fladenmuller of the Terra lingua/Terre des Langues program.
A special need is for two French students who are arriving Sunday, he noted, adding that Wayne County families have proven a great source of host families over the past 20 years.
The students are ages 14-18, bring their own spending money and are fully insured. Host families need not have children and grandparents also provide good host families, Fladenmuller said.
Students will spend about a month in the U.S.
