Bond increased on more charges
A man charged with multiple break-ins in the Old Smithfield Highway area faces more charges, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Willie Marcellus Banks, 47, now faces seven counts of breaking and entering, eights counts of larceny after breaking or entering and eight counts of possession of stolen goods. At least one of three guns recovered was a family heirloom, a detective who worked the case said. Bond for Banks was increased to $200,000, according to county authorities.
Stored vehicles sold as scrap, man charged
Three vehicles stolen from a Potts Road address on May 31 were allegedly stolen by a Dudley man who turned them in for scrap, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. The vehicles were recovered at nearby Young's Auto Salvage on U.S. 117 Alternate in Dudley, authorities said. James Michael Hargrove, 32, Hack Drive, Dudley was charged with three counts of motor vehicle theft in addition to other charges and jailed under $60,000 bond, county authorities said.
