WorkKeys test available in county

The Wayne Occupational Readiness Keys for Success, or WORKS, program has scheduled three free opportunities for the public to take the WorkKeys tests for Career Readiness Certification.
Wayne Community College will offer the test, which is an assessment that shows prospective employers that applicants possess skills they require, free of charge for a limited time due to funding from a grant. It is given in three areas -- applied mathematics, locating information and reading for information.
Sessions will be held on June 30, July 21 and Aug. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Room 220 of the Wayne Learning Center at the college. Pre-registration is required by noon on the test dates by calling 735-5151, ext 334.
The N.C. Career Readiness Certificate is based on established WorkKeys assessments. WorkKeys is a comprehensive skills appraisal tool recognized by thousands of companies in the U.S. and by state and federal agencies and the certificate is an accepted credential in many states.
Test-takers must be at least 18 years old and must bring photo identification, proof of age and Social Security number to the test. Calculators and pencils will be provided.
