SJAFB demo team will perform at Cherry Point weekend show

There will not be an air show at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base this year, but members of the 4th Fighter Wing's F-15E Strike Eagle Demonstra-tion Team will be performing in North Carolina skies this weekend.

The MCAS Cherry Point Air Show kicks off Friday evening, offering Wayne County residents their closest alternative to Wings Over Wayne.

Located just more than an hour east in Havelock, the Marine Corps touts the event as the "largest air show in North Carolina."

The show runs three days -- a Friday night show and Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon shows.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday, with flying beginning at twilight, and at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with flying beginning at 10 a.m.

Friday evening acts include:

Marine Corps. C-130, "Fat Albert"

ShockWave Jet Truck

Army Parachute Team, "The Golden Knights

Army Sky Soldiers

Fireworks at 9 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday acts include: (gates open at 8 a.m.; flying starts at 10 a.m.)

The Blue Angels

Marine AV-8B Harrier

F/A-18C Hornet

4th Fighter Wing F-15E Strike Eagle Demonstration Team

The Trojan Horsemen
