1,262 among Wayne County's Class of 2008 set to graduate

Wayne County Public Schools will graduate 1,262 seniors at the end of the 2007-2008 school year, with six graduations remaining over the coming weekend.
Thirty-two students have already received their diplomas, during ceremonies held May 23 for Wayne Early/Middle College High School.
Friday is the last day of school for students. Four of the six high schools will hold commencement ceremonies on Saturday, with the other two having theirs on Monday evening.
Eastern Wayne High School will have ceremonies on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Warrior football stadium, with 308 candidates.
Valedictorian is Wesley Johnson, who plans to attend Duke University. Michael McKnight, salutatorian, will attend N.C. State University and study biomedical engineering.
Goldsboro High School graduation starts at 10 a.m. in the school gymnasium. There are 134 candidates for diplomas.
Jamico Chapman, valedictorian, will be going to N.C. State University, while salutatorian Teddy Howell plans to study history and business at Winston-Salem State University.
Also at 10 a.m. will be the Rosewood High graduation on Branch Pope Field, where 144 candidates will receive diplomas.
Robert Franks, valedictorian, plans to attend Mount Olive College and major in chemistry. Salutatorian Summer Langston will go to UNC-Chapel Hill and study business.
Spring Creek graduation will take place in College Kornegay Arena Mount Olive College, at 11 a.m. This year, the class has 115 candidates.
Reba Jo Potter is valedictorian, while Molly Elizabeth Park is salutatorian. Both plan to attend East Carolina University and study nursing.
Charles B. Aycock and Southern Wayne graduations will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m.
Aycock will hand out 289 diplomas on Hardy Talton football field. Emilee Quinn, valedictorian, will attend ECU and study biology. Salutatorian Kristen Prosser has not declared a major at UNC-Greensboro.
Southern Wayne's ceremony will be held in Kornegay Arena at MOC, with 240 candidates this year.
Fitch Carrere, valedictorian, plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill and study business and biology, while salutatorian Andy Moore will attend Duke University and study business.
At North Duplin High School, ceremonies will be held on Tuesday morning, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Kornegay Arena on the Mount Olive College campus. With 55 candidates this year, valedictorian is William Canuette and salutatorian is Adrian Lloyd.
