Wayne County Public Schools will be in session on Saturday, a makeup day for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday.
Parents are reminded that it is an early release day and that breakfast and lunch will be provided as usual. Dismissal times vary by school.
If parents normally use district transportation for day care centers or after school programs and those facilities are closed on Saturday, officials are urging parents to pick up children when school dismisses or find alternate transportation.
Saturday is also the third annual Born Learning Children's Festival, sponsored by the Partnership for Children of Wayne County, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Herman Park, with some events at Wayne County Public Library.
Kim Best, director of community services for the partnership, said provisions have been made for school children to go to the event.
"With all the confusion about the public schools holding school now on this date, we got permission for all children through second grade to be allowed to attend with a permission slip from the partnership on the day of the event that must be turned in at school to be given an excused absence," she said. "The high school volunteers will also be given a volunteer permission slip to turn in to their school to be given an excused absence."
