Thefts

*Three black men reportedly broke into a display case in the sports department at the Wal-Mart at 1002 N. Spence Ave. on Tuesday. The report said one of the men went behind the counter and broke the lock to the display case to remove several items, including global positioning systems (GPS) and fish finders. All were valued at $1,667. The three men then removed the items from their boxes and hid the boxes. Some of the boxes were found on the premises, the Goldsboro Police report said.

*Also on Tuesday, the Wal-Mart at 2908 U.S. 70 West reported three men accompanied by two women stole jewelry and cameras and a low-range GPS, all valued at $4,826.

*Robert Charles Holmes of Cella Street told police he let a friend hold his debit card, and she ran up a $1,361.50 bill with it.

*Somebody pried open the rear door to the Blood Bought Church at 403 N. George Street and took the sound system, valued at $640. Damage to the door was $50.

Mugging

A woman said she was mugged while getting into her car with her two children in the parking lot at 2300 Wayne Memorial Drive. Brandolyn Davis Hinnant of Hinnant Farm Road, Pikeville, said her purse and its contents were worth about $160. Mrs. Hinnant said the man ran toward east Lockhaven Drive. He was described as black, about 22, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall, with shoulder-length dredlocks.
