Ballree hearing is May 29

Emmett Ballree, Mount Olive's former chief of police, is facing a state hearing to consider revoking or suspending his certification to be an officer.
Ballree, who is currently, chief of police at Boiling Springs Lake near Wilmington, will go before the Probable Cause Committee of the Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission on Thursday, May 29.
However, according to published newspaper accounts, the hearing was called to determine the validity of complaint that followed Ballree from his former job in Mount Olive. Ballree resigned as chief of police last year after he allegedly used a town gas card to purchase gas for his private vehicles.
Ballree said he did so because he was using his personal vehicle for police work.
The town did not investigate the complaint after Ballree left.
The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Apex at the N.C. Dept. of Correction Staff Development and Training Office.
