Fire investigation
Goldsboro police are investigating a Saturday afternoon fire at 402 Birch Drive, according to a patrolman's report. An officer noticed both a car and that residence, owned by Gloria Johnson, on fire. The officer reported there were visible flames and smoke coming from the rear of the house, according to the report.
Iron bars fail to deter
Iron bars on the restaurant's rear door were not enough to keep thieves from victimizing Goldsboro Deli in the 1600 block of Royall Avenue sometime over the weekend. But the thieves failed to penetrate an interior door that would have allowed access to the main part of the store, according to the police report. The incident caused a total $550 in damages, police said.
Armed robbery at night club
A Teasers night club employee told police he heard shots fired in the area of the club around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, causing him to return to the club. John Marti reported two black males were taking money from the cash register, according to the report. Marti said he tried to stop the men from taking cash, causing an altercation. Patrons were leaving the business as the two black males got away in a grey, four-door compact vehicle. The suspects were both in their 20s. one 5-feet-6-inches tall with a medium build and short, black hair, wearing sunglasses a red hat, a black shirt and blue jeans. The other suspect is described 5-feet-8-inches tall and about 100 pounds, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, according to the report.
