Neal case handled 'meticulously'

A Goldsboro police investigations press release says meticulousness, not other priorities, is the reason an investigation into William Jackson Neal Jr. took from summer until Neal's indictment by a grand jury on Monday. Neal is accused of climbing through an open window and having forcible intercourse with a 12-year-old Jefferson Park resident in 1987. Dwayne Dail, now 39, was convicted as a 19-year-old of the rape in 1989, but DNA evidence stored away in a Goldsboro evidence room showed Dail could not have been the rapist.

Men skip out on check, point gun

David Yang of the Golden Dragon in the 2000 block of East Ash Street reported that two white suspects left the business without paying for their food on Tuesday afternoon. When Yang chased them, one man pointed a handgun at him, according to the police report.
