Members of Wayne Community College's Phi Beta Lambda chapter collected more than two dozen honors at the business education student organization's recent state leadership conference.

The Gamma Chi chapter competed against 27 other college and university chapters from across the state.

It placed second in largest local chapter membership in the Eastern Region, and first in both largest percentage increase in membership and largest delegation.

The chapter also received the Terry Lowrance Leadership award for the third consecutive year.

Individual winners included Joseph Davis, first in accounting analysis and decision making, and second place in accounting for professionals; Joseph Pender, first in web site development, which included a $100 stipend, and third in cyber security; DeAndre Lewis, third in computer concepts; Betty Williams, fifth in telecommunications; Phillip Parry, second in management analysis and decision making and third in accounting principles; Jeremy May, third in job interview; Debbie Jones, fourth in word processing; and Seann Romero, sixth in sales presentation and seventh in management analysis and decision making.

Lewis and Ms. Williams also received first place in network design team competition.

Winners of individual and team events will go on to compete at the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta this summer.

May was elected the state eastern region vice president and Ms. Greene received a N.C. Phi Beta Lambda Foundation Scholarship.

Sherronda Darden, Ms. Greene, Ms. Williams, Ms. Jones, Romero, Parry, May and Pender also received certificates for participation in the state leadership development program.
