Three roommates played a role in three arson attempts early Friday morning, one running from police who tried to question him, authorities said.

And when police caught up with George Eddie Green, 21, of N.C. 222, they linked him to an armed robbery April 19 at Subway on North Spence Avenue, police said.

Police said Green, roommates Justin Kendrick Green and Jonathan Doyle Hall, all currently of a Slaughter Street address, were charged with the fires and robbery.

Trouble for the men started early Friday morning, when Goldsboro firefighters res-ponded to two dumpster fires and a fire that set Artis Flea Market's entranceway ablaze, police reports show.

Police found George Green had outstanding warrants for resisting, delaying or obstructing a police officer and failure to pay child support.

Goldsboro investigators investigated further, and linked the three men to the Subway robbery.

Employees of the restaurant reported that two men entered the store, one carrying a knife and another a gun, police said.

They allegedly took cash and fled the North Spence Avenue scene, according to police.
