National Day of Prayer observed all day today at First Presbyterian

The National Day of Prayer is being observed at First Presbyterian Church today.
The church's chapel will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
People should use the Jackson Street entrance across from the Wayne County Public Library. A concert of prayer by Dr. Jeremy Thompson will be held in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. and it is open to the public.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held annually on May 1, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. This is its 57th observance.
It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and was signed into law by President Harry Truman.
This year's theme is, "Prayer! America's Strength and Shield," taken from Psalm 28:7, which says: "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped."
In his national proclamation, President George Bush asked for special prayers for the safety and peace of mind of America's men and women in uniform and for their families.
