The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have its first ever tennis tournament fundraiser Friday through Sunday at Goldsboro Country Club.
It is for tennis players of all ages and skill levels.
It's being held in connection with Greene County's tennis tournament, scheduled for June 13 through 15 and the Wilson County tournament set for July 25 through 28.
Proceeds will be used for single family fire response.
Waller estimates that the response to single family fires is the largest drain on the chapter's budget each year. He said the chapter responds to about 100 fires each year in the three-county area and spends between $60,000 and $70,000 in direct assistance to families that lose their homes to fire.
