MOC's womanless beauty pageant raises money for Make-A-Wish

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College students raised $600 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation recently, when the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sponsored its third annual woMANless beauty pageant.
Seven male students dressed up as women and performed for the event. Winners include: Miss woMAN, Alexander Vazquez; Chase Smith, first runner up and Miss Congeniality; Corey Doub, second runner up; and semi-finalists Alejandro Swinson, Justin Potter, Courtney McCombs and Demetrius Wooten.
Make-A-Wish was chosen as the charity recipient. The goal across the division is to raise $100,000. For the last two years, MOC has led Conference Carolinas with the most money raised out of the 11 institutions in the region.
"I'm very proud of everyone's hard work," said LaToya Greene, assistant athletics director. "This was our third year hosting the pageant, and this year we were able to exceed the amount raised the past two years."
The pageant is a lot of fun and laughs; but we stress the main reason for hosting this event, and that is to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation."
