The Friends of the Wayne County Public Library is conducting a membership drive that the organization hopes will bring in 500 new members.
"In recent years, membership in the Friends has remained relatively level at about 250 members," organization president Farris Duncan said. "Our members are wonderful and help make so much possible. We know, though, that other communities of our size and smaller have friends groups that are twice as large as ours.
"So, we are conducting a campaign this spring to reach out to new members. We think we can double our size and our positive impact if the community knows we are here."
Annual memberships are available for $10 for individuals and $15 for families.
Membership levels of "best friend" and "benefactor" also are available for $25 and $50, respectively.
Larger donations also are welcome.
Memberships may be purchased at the county's public library branches with checks made to Friends of the Wayne County Public Library.
Memberships include special preview and purchase opportunities at the library's spring and fall book sales, volunteer opportunities at library events and the knowledge that annual dues help fund important activities that benefit the entire community.
