Seymour Johnson Air Force Base F-15E Strike Eagles are scheduled to kick off one of the largest military appreciation celebrations in state history Saturday.
Officials expect the Salute to Our Troops Day to draw thousands to the state capital to honor those who have fought and those currently deployed in support of the Global War on Terror.
The 10 a.m. flyover will mark the beginning of a parade through downtown Raleigh -- one that is scheduled to feature units and vehicles from all branches of the Armed Services.
Also, much like Seymour Johnson's Wings Over Wayne air show, the event will feature dozens of weapons, vehicles and state-of-the-art military equipment that are to be put on static display.
The schedule will include the 10 a.m. 4th Fighter Wing F-15 flyover, as well as a parade that begins up Fayetteville Street, passes around the State Capitol and continues north to the mall at the state government complex.
Lunch will be provided at noon for all military families.
Free access to Marbles Kids Museum will also be provided for military families.
