Tickets on sale for shrimp and lobster fest

Think you might be interested in a lobster or shrimp dinner next week? Then call the Partnership for Children of Wayne County by Friday and order your shrimp or lobster meal.
Holding its 4th annual Lobster and Shrimp Fest, the Partnership is selling tickets for $25 each -- each worth either 1.25 pounds of lobster or approximately two pounds of shrimp.
Lobsters can either be bought cooked or live. Shrimp can be bought either cooked or frozen.
The seafood can be picked up on Friday, May 2 between 2 and 6 p.m. at the Partnership's office at 800 N. William St.
A portion of the ticket cost is tax deductible.
More importantly, said Community Services Director Kim Best, the proceeds are going to help provide fellowships for child care teachers in Wayne County to send them to either Wayne Community College, Mount Olive College or another institute of higher learning.
"All the money goes for daycare employees to go back to school," Ms. Best explained. "The higher their education and the more knowledge they have, the better they can prepare children for kindergarten.
"And that's what it's all about -- getting children ready so they can start school and feel they are able to succeed."
But, she added, in order to help out such a worthy cause and pick up some lobster or shrimp in the process, tickets must be ordered by 5 p.m. Friday.
"If they want it, we need people to order ASAP," Ms. Best said.
Very few lobsters or shrimp packages, which are coming from Maine, will be available for sale on May 2.
