A North Spence Avenue store was robbed again by a man with a shotgun, possibly the ninth in a string of recent attacks.

But unlike other attacks, this robbery involved two men inside the store, according to police reports.

A 38-year-old clerk at Kangaroo No. 924 at 600 N. Spence reported that a slim black man entered the store around 7:20 p.m. with a shotgun.

The clerk said that two black men forced her into the store with guns and made her fill a bag with Newport cigarettes.

That makes this robbery similar to eight others in which a sawed-off shotgun-toting robber demanded cash and that particular brand of menthol cigarettes, police said.

In this incident, the two suspects got away with around $270 worth of cigarettes and about $70 cash, according to the police report.

Sgt. Chad Calloway was not available for comment on Tuesday morning.

Other stores that have been robbed over recent weeks were convenience stores around the city.

Two men were charged with robbing a Bojangles restaurant at gunpoint April 16 but police have said they are not sure if they are connected to the convenience store holdups since another convenience store was hit the same day that they were taken into custody.

The chief suspect in the robberies has been described as a black man about 5-feeet-7 inches tall and weighing 150-160 pounds. He was caught on videotape robbing The Pantry on North William Street.
