Workers transplant tobacco on the farm of Jake and Vinson Price off N.C. 111 South near the Duplin County line on Friday. With the danger of frost mostly past, area farmers have begun transferring the tender young plants from hothouses to the field. Wayne County growers tended about 9,000 acres of tobacco last year and Cooperative Extension Agent Kevin Johnson said he expects there to be a slight increase in the number of acres of tobacco this year.
