n Voters will have the opportunity to decide whether or not they want to approve a quarter-cent sales tax increase.
n If it is approved, the commissioners must then take another vote to enact it, and as long as that is done by Aug. 1, the earliest it can take effect is Oct. 1.
n It enacted, the increase will raise the sales tax on all retail goods to an even 7 percent.
n State and county estimates show the extra quarter-cent could provide Wayne County with anywhere from $1.8 million to $2.6 million depending on the economy.
