Small Business of the Year nominations now being accepted

Nominations are now being accepted for three small business awards that will be given by the Small Business Center at Wayne Community College during the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours event on June 19 at the golf course on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
The three categories are, new business, special recognition and business of the year.
To qualify for one of the awards, the business must be based or operated in Wayne County with 100 or fewer employees and must be in business for a minimum, of one year.
Nominations can be made by the business owner or an employee, a family member, another business, a town or county organization or an interested citizen.
To qualify for the New Business Award, businesses must have been in operation for one to five years with a record of employees, sales and or unit growth.
To qualify for the Special Recognition Award, businesses must have been in operation for at least a year and have shown innovation or creativity in its products, services or promotional ideas. Examples are required.
To qualify for the the Small Business of the Year, businesses must have demonstrated excellence in business practices, customer service and community involvement.
Prizes include a $250 educational credit at Wayne Community College for the Small Business of the Year and a $150 credit for both the New Business and Special Recognition recipients.
All three will receive a plaque and the name of the business engraved on a permanent plaque at the college. The three winners also will be featured in the Chamber of Commerce's monthly publication.
All nominated businesses will be recognized during the event on June 19.
Nomination forms can be pick up at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, any bank in Goldsboro and at the Small Business Center at Wayne Community College.
The deadline for submitting nominations is May 1, and the nomination form must be delivered to the Small Business Center at the college.
