Eastern Wayne Middle School officials discovered buses, buildings and sidewalks spray-painted with graffiti Saturday morning.
An estimate of the damage was set at $2,000
Goldsboro police are investigating the crime.
Wayne County Public Schools spokesman Ken Derksen said school maintenance crews were on the scene as soon as the discovery was made and cleaned up the mess.
Derksen said the schools and law enforcement are asking that anyone with knowledge of the incident contact school authorities or the Goldsboro Police Department. Callers to Crime Stoppers at 735-2255 can remain anonymous and are eligible for cash rewards.
Derksen said the schools take any vandalism seriously.
"Any individual contributing to the damage will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law," he said.
Derksen added that other avenues of punishment would likely be appropriate for any students caught aiding in the vandalism.
"If a student is found involved, they will face disciplinary actions at the school level, according to the district's policies," he said.
