Meeting Tuesday, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners is expected to declare April 26 "Amnesty Day" at the county landfill on Landfill Road in Dudley.

That means that on that day tipping fees will be waived for county residents -- not commercial businesses or haulers -- in an attempt to encourage them to clean up roads and yards.

Other items on the commission's agenda include a presentation from Geoff Hulse, chairman of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, and Christine Smith, family and consumer science agent with the county Cooperative Extension Service.

The board also will be discussing a proposal from the Highway 70 Commission to eliminate the alternate member from each county and give one seat to each municipality in the county with a population more than 20,000 people.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m., with a briefing session to be held at 8 a.m. in the board's chambers in the courthouse.
