Ten young women will compete for 2008 Miss Goldsboro title

Ten young women will compete in the annual Miss Goldsboro Scholarship program on Saturday, March 29, starting at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
The pageant will honor Miss Goldsboro 2007, Nicki Sanderson, with a special tribute paid to the many former titleholders, dating back to the 1940s.
The contestants are:
*Meagan Culkin, senior, Greene Central High School; talent, tap dance; platform, "National Breast Cancer Foundation".
*Heather Beaman, graduate, Mount Olive College; talent, lyrical dance; platform, "America's Promise: Promoting Volunteerism."
*Lisa Mace, graduate, East Carolina University; talent, rhythmic tap dance; platform, "Take the Lead": Using Dance as the Universal Language."
*Emily Taylor, freshman, East Carolina University; talent, vocal; platform, "S.O.T.O. (Students Outreach To Orphans)."
*Meghan Phillips, junior, Mount Olive College; talent, popular vocal; platform, "Donate Life: Support Organ & Tissue Donations."
*Emily Perkins, senior, Charles B. Aycock; talent, vocal; platform, "For The Love Of Arts."
*Cora Ormond, graduate, Pitt Community College; talent, comedic monologue; platform, "Locks & Locks of Love."
*Jessica Winders, junior, East Carolina University; talent, ballet en pointe; platform, "Organ Donation: A Second Chance at Life."
*Marissa Phillips, sophomore, East Carolina University; talent, jazz dance; platform, "American Red Cross."
*Maggie Walston, senior, Greene Central High School; talent, popular vocal; platform, "Promoting the Adoption of Pets in Animal Shelters."
