Man accused of stealing trusses from poultry houses

A temporary employee hired to help a Wilson man transport chicken houses sold parts of the bird enclosures for scrap instead, authorities said.
Detective Lt. Carl Lancaster said Elton Futrell of Wilson hired Kevin Ray Worley, 34, Perry Farm Lane, to move the houses from the end of Perry Farm Lane.
Futrell called Worley to find out if he would be showing up for work, the detective said, and Worley reportedly told Futrell he would show up in a few days.
Futrell arrived at the worksite to find that 11 40-foot steel trusses were missing.
The Wilson man phoned authorities, who determined that Worley had loaded up the trusses with Futrell's backhoe and truck to transport them to a scrap yard.
Capt. Tom Effler said the 11 trusses, valued at $6,675, were not recovered because the scrap yard had already processed them.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office charged Worley with felonious larceny and felon-level possession of stolen goods, according to a news release.
A magistrate set a $2,000 secured bond for Worley.
