Foster, adoptive parents needed

The Boys and Girls Homes of N.C. is looking for foster and adoptive parents and will host at least two training sessions this year for people interested in taking care of a young boy or girl in need of a home.
To become a foster or adoptive parent with Boys & Girls Homes, a person must be over the age of 21, pass a criminal history check and federal background check, complete training of 36 hours with Boys & Girls Homes, complete physicals and TB tests, and complete a fire inspection of their residence.
Other requirements are adequate living space, demonstrated adequate income to meet the needs of their own family, have their own transportation, and the ability to work as a team.
In addition, they must have a high school diploma or GED, or if a couple, one person with a diploma or GED.
Boys & Girls Homes say it also takes determination, patience, humor and a love for children, regardless of their background, to be a good foster parent.
