The Stoney Creek Park Alliance met Thursday afternoon to continue discussions on strategic planning for the park.

They discussed installing benches, but did not decide on what type -- possibly concrete because of its lower cost and durability.

Alliance members also talked about trails, greenways and other activities, including cross country areas, disc golf and gardens.

The alliance also is moving forward with the dog park, and asked that the city Parks and Recreation Department go ahead and place garbage cans and receptacles for pet refuse in the park to encourage more people to use the current park.

The department and alliance are currently working on events to bring to the park such as "Walk It Out Goldsboro" on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will include a one mile fun walk, a health fair, educational booths, Earth Day activities, games and guided trail walks and healthy food choices will also be available for purchase. A farmer's market may also be part of the event.
