Mount Olive College has been chosen to host the 12th annual Leadership Enrichment Achievement Development conference next month, which brings together campus leaders from across the state.

The one-day event, sponsored by the N.C. College Personnel Association, will take place on Feb. 23.

This is the second time the college has been chosen as the site, having previously hosted the event in 1999. Julie Beck, director of student activities, called it an honor, crediting the newest facilities at the college with being a draw.

"The W. Burkette and Rose M. Raper Hall and the Southern Bank Auditorium gave us an advantage over some of the other contenders, not to mention our outstanding proven leadership," she said.

The conference caters to current and rising student leaders, allowing students to network, learn how other leadership teams and programs function and to get ideas to take back to their campus. Even graduate students and professionals are afforded time to meet and share ideas.

"LEAD is such a dynamic conference as it is focuses almost entirely on students," Beck said. "The host school involves the students from the beginning of the planning process through implementation of the conference. Those who attend will learn valuable skills from professionals in the student affairs field. Ideally, the students take these skills back to their campuses and make a difference across the state."

Keynote speaker this year will be Nancy Hunter Denney, a nationally recognized speaker, author, leadership trainer and educator.

A $35 registration fee is required before Feb. 8, which will be $40 after that date. Registration forms are available online at www.mynccpa.org. For more information, contact Ms. Beck at 658-7880 or jbeck@moc.edu.
