MOUNT OLIVE - A traffic stop early Thursday morning resulted in an unexpected arrest, as the driver of a 2000 Dodge truck was found to be under the influence of alcohol and in possession of roughly 62 grams of "suspected" heroin.

Mount Olive Police Depart-ment officials said the driver, Dudley resident Luis Arnaldo Florez, was pulled over under suspicion of drunken driving.

But after discovering a large quantity of what the officers suspected was heroin, Florez was charged with DWI, possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin and trafficking of heroin.

Officials estimate the street value of the drugs at about $35,000.

This is not the first time law enforcement officers around Mount Olive have gotten more than they bargained for during a traffic stop.

In early December, members of the Wayne County Sheriff's Aggressive Criminal Enforce-ment Team, found more than 30 pounds of cocaine inside an SUV they had pulled for speeding off N.C. 55 near Dobbersville Road.

That seizure was the largest single cocaine arrest in known county history.
