Suspect will face charges for meth

A Seven Springs man faces charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, investigators with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported.
Andres Reyes Flores, 49, Stanley Chapel Church Road, Mount Olive, was placed in the Wayne County Jail under $2 million bond, Maj. George Raecher said.
The investigation involved the Wayne County-Goldsboro Drug Squad and the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office.
If convicted, Flores would face punishment that depends on the amount of methamphetamine sold, according to state law.
A weight between 28 and 200 grams is a Class F felony, punishable by a minimum of more than five years in prison and a minimum fine of $50,000.
If the weights are between 200 and 400 grams, offenders face a Class E felony, with a maximum sentence of almost 10 years in prison, according to state law.
For weights of 400 grams or more, trafficking is classified as a Class C felony, and the convicted offender faces a maximum of almost 19 years in prison and a minimum $250,000 fine, the law states.
Investigators filed multiple charges but were not releasing the amount of the drug involved in each sale. State law holds that delivery or transportation of 28 or more grams of the drug constitutes trafficking.
Trafficking in methamphetamine -- a highly addictive and dangerous narcotic produced in clandestine, explosion-prone labs -- is often cited by law enforcement as one of the nation's worst drug problems.
