Goldsboro photographer recognized

ATLANTA -- The Shepherd Center, one of the nation's leading rehabilitation hospitals, located in Atlanta, has announced that a photographer from Goldsboro has been selected as a finalist in their nationally advertised photography contest. Dr. Rhonda Peters' entry entitled "Aspire" was chosen as one of 77 selections to be added to a permanent collection at the center.
The Shepherd Center contest received 1,390 entries received from 300 amateur and professional photographers from 23 states and one foreign country. The contest jurors, Jane Jackson, curator of the Sir Elton John Photography Collection, and Julian Cox, curator of photography for the High Museum of Art, hand-selected the finalists for the exhibit called "A New Outlook on the World."
The exhibit will be permanently displayed in the reception areas outside the auditorium on the seventh floor of the Jane Woodruff Pavilion of the Shepherd Center. The exhibit will open in early February, at which time the jurors will award the first, second and third place prizes. The first place photographer will receive $1,000 in prize money, second place $650 and third place $350. In addition, there will be an Honorable Mention category with a $250 cash prize to be awarded to up to four photographers.
Dr. Peters is the wife of Dr. Steve Peters, director of psychology at Cherry Hospital.
