Two Wayne County citizens face charges after their arrests for fraud-related charges on Thursday, the county Sheriff's Office said.
Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour received numerous calls from Stephanie Nichole Martin, 26, Hereford Drive, Dudley, about a car she reported stolen from a grocery store parking lot on U.S. 117 South, authorities said.
Ms. Martin eventually confessed that the vehicle had not been stolen, and investigation afterward turned up a fraudulent insurance claim, Capt. Tom Effler said.
Ms. Martin faces one count of felony-level insurance fraud and was jailed in lieu of $7,500 bond.
In an unrelated incident, a Dudley man faces four felony-level charges for stealing checks and other items from his employer, authorities said. He is also accused of cashing some of the checks, Effler said.
Jamie Scott Parrish, 33, Damon Road, faces two counts of forgery of an instrument and two counts of uttering a forged instrument, according to reports and a release issued by Effler.
Parrish was jailed in lieu of $10,000 secured bond for the charges, according to Sheriff's Office records.
