MOUNTOLIVE -- Mount Olive College will dedicate its agribusiness center in memory of Lois G. Britt during the college's annual alumni weekend. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday at Raper Hall.

The agribusiness center's close proximity to classrooms and labs makes it an ideal location for instruction, outreach and research, officials said. It was created in 2002 to serve as an educational resource for agricultural businesses and to provide academic programs to encourage leadership in the agricultural community.

Ms. Britt, who died in 2005, was a Duplin County native who served as its Cooperative Extension Service director for many years. At Mount Olive College, she served as co-chairman of the New Century Capital Campaign and on the MOC Foundation Board of Directors.

"Lois has meant a great deal not only to the community of Mount Olive, but to the entire state. I can't think of a more appropriate way to honor her memory," said foundation Chairman George R. Kornegay, Jr.
